Either symbols or videos. I like the symbols because it's like decoding something, but I like videos because I know I'm doing it exactly right.

I'm a visual person, so I love charts - it's how I learned to read patterns by myself. Some written instructions are welcome, just to double check things, but not pages upon pages. I've never used video instructions, so I cannot comment.

I prefer written but that's how I learned years ago, and they're easier to take with me. My New Year's resolution is to learn to read charts better because I think it will make writting notes about what I'm doing when I'm writting patterns or just playing around a lot quicker!
