Canadian crafters!!! I know about this because my professional peers in the salon industry are signing up left, right, and centre for this payment plan. Many of us in the beauty industry work for ourselves. You can generally tell in a salon who the "renters" are as opposed to the employees because the renters don't always have access to the debit machine. However, now, like our American peers who have access to Square, we now have Payd through Moneris.

The above link will take you to their Facebook page which has a link to their main business website. I have not signed up for this as a salon professional because I am fortunate that I can make use of the debit machine at work. However, I have been considering getting over my fear of selling crocheted goodies in person and I feel that Payd will help me out in a craft show situation because many of us (myself included) simply do not carry cash anymore. I also do not take cheques unless the person writing it is my mother :)

Anyway, check it out, it has the potential to become a very good tool for the mobile business person.

If you are going to sell your work live and in person, then yes, you need to have a way to take debit/credit cards or you will simply lose sales.
