Do you love yarn? Do your fingers get anxious for projects? Do you ever think to yourself or have friends tell you that your stitching is as good as what is shown in the magazines? Do you want to make some extra money by doing what you love to do? If you answered yes, you may be the person we have been looking for to contract stitch for Shibaguyz Designz design studio.
Here’s the scoop:
We are looking for crocheters and knitters with all levels of experience to help us create finished designs and meet all of our deadlines. We provide you with the pattern, yarn and instructions. All you have to do is stitch up the individual elements. We even foot the cost for shipping.
What’s in it for you?
Money
Plain and simple; we are going to pay you for your time and effort. Shibaguyz Designz pays a flat percentage of the final price we are paid for the completed piece.
Experience in the field
Are you thinking about designing as a hobby or as a part time job? This is the perfect way to get your feet wet in the industry and really get a feel for what the business entails.
Eternal Glory
Ok, maybe not. But you will have a special glow when you see a garment you helped create grace the pages of a magazine or book.
Experience
You will work with original patterns, stitches, and of course you get to play with all sorts of new and exciting brands of yarn. From Big-Box to boutique brands natural and manufactured fibers, exotics and everything in between, it’s a mystery what you will be working with next.
What do we need from you?
Time management
You will be expected to work under a tight schedule with strict deadlines.
Perfection in the work
These pieces will be photographed, seen on runways, or viewed in person by the public. Even the smallest mistakes will show up in a big way.
Privacy
You will be under contractual obligation not to divulge to anyone any of the “who, what, where or when” of any piece you are working on.
How exactly will this work?
Audition
Send us an email, that you are interested in being a contractor to ShibaguyzDesignz@gmail.com. Obviously the more information you can send about yourself, the better. Suggested information would include your past experience, websites, blogs, ravelry & facebook pages, hours available per week and stitching skills. Show us whattcha got! Sample contract and test patterns will be emailed to qualified individuals upon review of your information. Note: you MUST have access to a digital camera and be able to email hi-res photos to us of your test swatches.
Non-smokers and non-smoking households only. If you have pets, please disclose that information in your email. Also, if you are a left-handed stitcher, please disclose that information in your email as well.
At this time we are looking for contractors in the continental US only.
Into The Pool
Once you have been accepted as a contractor you will be added to a list of other contractors with similar talents (knitter, crocheter, both, lace, socks…). When a contracting job comes open we will send a message to everyone in that group with all pertinent information: level of difficulty, yarn type, due dates, and pay. If the job sounds like something you are interested in doing, simply email back. First come, first serve. We will email the contract for you to sign, instructions, and have the yarn shipped to you with a pre-paid return label (usually via UPS).
Get Stitching
We will have you complete a swatch of the piece and e-mail a picture (aren’t computers fun!) before you start on the actual project… don’t want you tearing out half a sweater because the gage was off…We will always be available to answer questions about the pattern.
Return the piece
Send back the finished piece(s), copies of the pattern, and any unused yarn
Get paid
We pay within 30 days after the finished piece is received and approved by the publisher/sponsor.
If any of this sounds like fun or you think you have the skills and/or time to make some extra cash we’d love to hear from you.
talk to you soon…
