If you haven't met Harrison of Furls Crochet, you should! Harrison is a super huge fan of crochet and the hands that hold the hooks. So much so that he designed crochet hooks so beautiful and comfortable to use they are out of this world! Beyond his passion for keeping our hands healthy and holding onto works of art, he believes that we who crochet deserve more and better treatment in the world.
That's why Hookey.org members are getting special treatment from Furls, that's…

Today I'm featuring Cre8tion Crochet on the blog. She talks about how she learned to crochet as well as a bit on selling her crochet via Etsy and in local retail stores. Currently Lorene is concentrating on monetizing her blog through affiliates and sponsorships. She is taking guest authors if you are open to sharing your blogging/business/crochet tips. It doesn't hurt to ask. …

I am in-between large projects at the moment, it's a funny state of limbo to be in and I feel somewhat idle when I don't have a large project on the hook. However, I have my all time fall-back crochet to hand. Flowers!

Hey there Hookey-ittes!
In the interest of making more room for ourselves, we have been destashing our yarn and have started going through our boxes and boxes of samples from our past magazine publications.
We have decided that, for the first time, we are going to put these samples up for sale. These are the same samples that were made for photographing in the magazines then returned to…

What if I told you that you could donate one skein of yarn to a good cause helping homeless kids learn how to crochet and in exchange you would get your name listed in the acknowledgments of a crochet-for-creativity print book by a…

Quick post to let you all know about a book Sedruola N. Maruska of YarnObsession.com wrote. She'll be releasing it tomorrow.
I think it is a great resource for crocheters because many times they undersell their work or gasp, give it away for free. The book goes into pricing for wholesale, retail, and even for family and friends.
Read the first Chapter with 'Pay with a Tweet' on her blog http://yarnobession.com
What do you think…

Every so often I am inspired by alternative materials for my crochet, it might be the texture or the colour that sets my imagination off, I have often used polythene because of the sound it makes when handled. You might find it odd to be inspired by sound but my husband is a musician so sound is part of my daily equation.
Recently I went to a builders suppliers where I came across a spool of Manila Twine - I adore the scent of Manila…

I asked people through social media: “what is your opinion on granny squares?” The answers were varied of course. A lot of people said that they like granny squares. A few said that they love them. A couple said that they hate them. Many said that they cut their teeth on granny squares and so feel that they have their place or that they are nostalgic for them as a result.
Here were some of the most colorful answers people shared:…

I'm almost done with the first week of the 31 Days of Crochet Business Blogging challenge. Hard work but well worth it.

I've pre-written and scheduled posts for next week as well as pre-made the videos for youtube.
Plans for my next project (coming in February) are in place and I'm currently…

I entered 3 crocheted items and 1 tatted, going to take some pictures tomorrow and honestly I never care if I win big, I am more interested in making items to really bring some light to what you can really do with crochet and that is EXACTLY what I did. A cardigan (Doris Chan pattern), Shawl (anohibi pattern) and a necklace (me pattern) and the tatted item is the Ann Bruvold dragon. Will keep you posted on the results.
