Thoughts on the Foundation Row when working with fancy yarn.

Weeeeeeeellllll.....

Crochet's a b*tch, its a big fat b*tch, its the biggest b*tch in the whole wide world,

Its a stupid b*tch if there ever was a b*tch, its a b*tch to all the boys and girls,

On Monday its a b*tch, on Tuesday its a b*tch, on Wednesday through Saturday its a b*tch,

Then on Sunday, just to be different, its a super King Kong mayo mayo b*tch.

(I've been crocheting to South Park, can you tell?)

Please, feedback

OK, while I was tending to some other things on my Internet To Do List for today, a thought occurred to me and I want some constructive feedback/opinion about it.

I am getting ready to use my lessonopolis account to start filming lessons in one of my favourite things, Tunisian entrelac. I just love making things this way and I really want to show people how EASY it is. I know there are other people doing it for free and some really well known authors putting out classes, but…

Organizing my space

I'm participating in another term at Hogwarts this spring and I've decided to play Quidditch. The first assignment in spring training, before the games begin, was to get organized. I chose my crafting space. Clean freaks may want to look away.

Thanks to Furls Crochet!

If you haven't met Harrison of Furls Crochet, you should!  Harrison is a super huge fan of crochet and the hands that hold the hooks. So much so that he designed crochet hooks so beautiful and comfortable to use they are out of this world!  Beyond his passion for keeping our hands healthy and holding onto works of art, he believes that we who crochet deserve more and better treatment in the world.

That's why Hookey.org members are getting special treatment from Furls, that's…

how to get into hooks for hire market?

Does anyone out here crochet for other people - those too busy with orders etc?

I love to crochet and i like to think I’m good at it. Am having no luck selling on Folksy/Etsy and it’s costing me money to keep going. If i could crochet for someone who IS successful and get paid, it would be much more fulfilling.

How do i get into this market? Links to resources gratefully accepted as I’m not even sure what search terms to use.

Thanks everyone!

Some things that overwhelm we hookers

I hate posting links, but I'm going to do it anyway. *Sigh* I need to find a way to make one post, so that facebook, google+, twitter, and here, get covered in one shot when I make a blog post.

Today's blog was inspired by conversations I've been having with people for the last few months and based on what I've learned in the salon:

I'm Wrapping up the series on Craft Shows

For the last couple of weeks I've been blogging about craft shows - crochet specific. I've only done a couple of shows way back when I actually sold crochet. I found a really good series (31 days) by Molly who blogged about preparing for her first show. (really cool fact - she happens to be local - small world)

Anyhow, I've learned so much through doing this series - stuff I wish I would have known way back in 2008 - 2010.

I'm behind in publishing posts but this is day 26…

I've been working on a Superman Set and as you all know..putting off the finishing touches.
I have a thing about crocheting really small things..I don't like to
I tried to buy the appliques .. they don't make them small enough.
So I tip toed in, and before I knew what I'd done, the emblem was formed and in my hands...and It Was…

Today I'm featuring Cre8tion Crochet on the blog. She talks about how she learned to crochet as well as a bit on selling her crochet via Etsy and in local retail stores. Currently Lorene is concentrating on monetizing her blog through affiliates and sponsorships. She is taking guest authors if you are open to sharing your blogging/business/crochet tips. It doesn't hurt to ask. …
