I'm Wrapping up the series on Craft Shows

For the last couple of weeks I've been blogging about craft shows - crochet specific. I've only done a couple of shows way back when I actually sold crochet. I found a really good series (31 days) by Molly who blogged about preparing for her first show. (really cool fact - she happens to be local - small world) Anyhow, I've learned so much through doing this series - stuff I wish I would have known way back in 2008 - 2010. I'm behind in publishing posts but this is day 26 which is a…See More

Friday Crochet Business Interview

Today I'm featuring Cre8tion Crochet on the blog. She talks about how she learned to crochet as well as a bit on selling her crochet via Etsy and in local retail stores. Currently Lorene is concentrating on monetizing her blog through affiliates and sponsorships. She is taking guest authors if you are open to sharing your blogging/business/crochet tips. It doesn't hurt to ask. Read…See More

Final Week CBBC

This is the final week of the Crochet business blogging challenge. To say I'm glad it's over is a bit of an understatement. Not that I didn't enjoy it, it's just with the whole blogger deal - it was a bit stressful. I'm heading into February with the intent of taking a break and re-evaluating the past month of activity. I enjoyed meeting all of the bloggers that participated - hey, not a large number but enough to feel like the challenge was worth it. Here's to taking risks, falling, and…See More

Google+ Hangouts for Crochet Bloggers and Business Owners

Last Sunday I did my first hangout over on Google+. It was a very small gathering - 2 folks. That's okay though because I wasn't too sure I wanted a live feed of me. We used the time to chat about the book "Crochet Save My Life" by Kathryn Vermillo. I chatted about one of the stories that touched me. The other 2 gals hadn't read the book yet so I went over a little about what the book had inside. How can you use Google+ Hangout for your Crochet business or blog? Customer service - if someone is…See More

Agh, Did I Just Do That?

Tonight I had my first ever Twitter Chat. I was nervous for about 2 hours before it started. I made sure all my notes were together and all the links were right. The closer the time got the more nervous I got. I said a little prayer to calm my nerves and the negative thoughts that always seem to plague my mind. I got myself a cup of coffee and some crackers and set out to have my first twitter chat then it occurred to me "What if no one shows?" I'm reminded of teen flicks I watched in high…See More

How's it Going Sara?

I'm almost done with the first week of the 31 Days of Crochet Business Blogging challenge. Hard work but well worth it. I'm meeting many new crochet business owners and bloggers and becoming more social on my 'social media' pages/sites. - this is one of my goals for this year. I've pre-written and scheduled posts for next week as well as pre-made the videos for youtube. Plans for my next project (coming in February) are in place and I'm currently making the outline for that. I love reading…See More

I'm starting 2013 with a blogging challenge

In 2012 I was finally going to launch myself out as an official 'crochet business'. A personal loss stopped me in my tracks. I didn't know whether I wanted to get back into anything let alone working online in a 'business'. I owe many people a great big hug and a thank you for pulling me out of a depression that frankly I could have stayed in quite happily. {smile} Anyhow, we just past the threshold into 2013 and this means possibilities are still there to continue what I set out to do last…See More

Blogger Frustrations

Posted on January 23, 2013 at 3:37am 0 Comments

I've been hearing around the blogosphere of blogger randomly deleting blogs.  I've been quite sympathetic with those who have had this happen. Well, my blog has just been tagged as spam. I am experiencing this phenomenon first hand.

Last night crochetbusinessblog.blogspot.com was shut down. No warning. Nothing.

Folks have warned me about this and yet I still kept my stand on blogging on a free platform. No more.

If you are on a free blog, go back it up right now. You…

Thanks for the overlay Mandela heads-up. I've got one for you. Because you write so much, I'd like to suggest LET'S WRITE A SHORT STORY by Joe Bunting. His website is letswriteashortstory.com. It reads more like a novel but will stay on my reference shelf forever. Hope you enjoy it.
If you are interested in reviewing the e-book ( its not out yet) he will send you a free copy. Let me know if you have any trouble getting it.
