I have two crocheted dress projects floating in my mind, but I'm not ready to attempt them yet, even if I have the perfect yarn. One would be an off-the-shoulder dress that would let peek out a contrasting halter top. The other is actually a matching corset top and skirt in fine lace, but that would be a very long-time project that would require a tulle petticoat to give it its shape. I'm too affraid I could change shape during the making of the dress, as a matter of fact.

LOL Sorry Aurore, I missed this on Sunday!  I think a great thing to remember is that for really fitted garments you can "cheat" and get shaping from good undergarments that you sew in as a lining. The Shibaguyz did that in the NY Dress, they added a "shaper" slip that helps hold everything up and in ;D

I hadn't thought of that. Thanks :)

This is a trick we use when photographing to make garments fit better as well.  We will whip stitch in a foundation garment to make the sample fit the model size better.  Definitely try this for your own projects!

Also, it takes the fear of exposure out of the way… ya know… 'cause nobody want's their underthings showing!

Nice :D So a foundation garment being a shaping slip?

No wonder they always look better on the models:)

That is the coolest tip I've heard in years! Thank you!
