Our Fearless Leader asked me to post this here on Hookey, so here goes:
Faces of Heroines is my latest vision. I feel very strongly about the loss of my fellow sister service women. Please consider visiting the Faces of Heroines page and "liking" it. Also, will you consider being a patron to this project? Thanks.

Please visit here to consider being a patron. I will be collecting names of folks who would like to help me crochet this project into fruition. Thanks, Laura.
Can you post some pics here, tell us a little bit about why this means so much to you?

Sure. I returned home from Reno to find most of the sample yarns had arrived. I will begin working on two patterns to guesstimate how much yarn each piece will take to complete. I'll take photos to document the progress and will post here.
I am a woman veteran. As such, I think I'm not alone when I say that we veterans have a special love for our active duty peers. That love compounds when one dies in the line of duty. I also love crochet. I find it peaceful and soothing. It allows me to be creative as it relaxes me. My thought... why not combine my two loves to show honor to a growing number women who have died serving our Nation. It is my desire to bring awareness to that number, the largest since the Civil War and Revolutionary War. To date, there are over 140 women who have given us their ultimate sacrifice, their lives. To them, I am grateful.

Good luck with your project, Laura. It was great meeting you in Reno and I wish you all the best with this and will look forward to seeing the finished works as they are each completed.
